Negotiate with employers on behalf of employees to establish fair wages, benefits, working hours, and other terms of employment. Collective bargaining agreements often cover health insurance, retirement plans, and job protections
Provide a structured process for employees to raise concerns about unfair treatment, disciplinary actions, or workplace conflicts. If necessary, unions can escalate grievances through legal channels or arbitration.
Advocate for policies and regulations that protect employees' rights at both the company and legislative levels. This includes lobbying for labor laws and protections, like minimum wage increases, family leave, and worker safety standards.
If an employee faces disciplinary action or termination, unions often provide legal support to ensure that the employer follows proper procedures. This representation can help protect employees from wrongful dismissal or discrimination.
Offer professional development, training, and educational programs to help employees advance in their careers and stay updated on industry trends.
Build solidarity among workers and often partner with other unions, labor organizations, and community groups to strengthen the collective voice of employees and advocate for social and economic justice.
